Probate Court
The Probate Court has jurisdiction by Connecticut General Statutes to handle
specific types of matters that affect the residents of North Haven. Most
commonly, the Court monitors and supervises the distribution of a person’s There are also many functions of the Court which assist residents during their lifetimes. Matters dealing with the custody, guardianship and adoption of minors; the appointment of conservators for adults unable to manage their own affairs, appointments of guardians for individuals with mental retardation and applications for change of name are all within the jurisdiction of the Probate Court. North Haven and East Haven merged their courts into a single court in January 2011. The newly consolidated court is located in the East Haven Town Hall, on 250 Main Street.
