This process typically includes the review of plans and and the issuance of a building permit prior to the start of construction followed by inspection work in progress and ending in a Certificate of Occupancy when all work has been completed in compliance with the regulations.

The Building Code currently adopted by the Town of North Haven is the 2022 CT. STATE BUILDING CODE which adopts:
2021 International Building Code
2017 ICC/ANSI A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities
2021 International Existing Building Code
2021 International Plumbing Code
2021 International Mechanical Code
2021 International Energy Conservation Code
2020 NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, of the National Fire Protection Association Inc.
2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code

The requirements of the 2022 Connecticut State Building Code shall apply to all work for which a

Permitting software implemented has expedited the issuance of permits. Most permits are issued within days of approval. Building permit fees for the next fiscal year expect to remain unchanged.

Effective  October  4th, 2021 the Building Office now offers the capability of submitting applications for building permits online using the City Squared website.  The on-line permit center allows homeowners and licensed contractors to apply for and receive simple building permits over the internet. You can also track the status of your permit application.
